Boone County Jail: Detainee allegedly snuck gun into jail
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
On Wednesday afternoon, Boone County Jail detention staff allege a detainee hid a gun in a body cavity and snuck it into the jail after finding it during a search of the housing unit.
Officials report that Amy Wilhite was in possession of the gun in her belongs.
Officials say that Wilhite was searched three times. Officials say Wilhite was searched once by the arresting agency on Feb 14, by a Detention Sergeant when she entered the Boone County Jail and a procedural strip search of Wilhite was later conducted by another Detention Officer prior to her being introduced into general population with other detainees.
Officials believe Wilhite removed the firearm from her body and concealed it within her personal belongings.
Wilhite was arrested on 02/14/2021 by an outside law enforcement agency for multiple charges.
Wilhite has been arrested for an additional charge of delivery or possession of a weapon at a county/private jail/corrections center.
