WEATHER ALERT DAY: Tracking accumulating snow, potentially slow Wednesday morning commute

AFTERNOON UPDATE: Accumulating snow is coming to an end in the early hours of this afternoon. A few flurries look like they'll hang on but shouldn't be complicating anything on the roads.

Still need to take it slow out there, anything left on the roads could refreeze tonight.

LATE MORNING UPDATE:

After a cold day yesterday, another wave of low-pressure system moved in late last night, bringing another shot at accumulating snow for much of Mid-Missouri. Snow showers out to our west are moving in, and are expected to impact this morning's commute.

Snow showers are expected to continue their spread east through late Wednesday morning. Snow is expected to impact areas of northern Missouri for a longer time frame before spreading south, bringing slightly more accumulation for our northern counties.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the entire viewing area through noon Wednesday for the potential of slick roads due to light snowfall accumulation.

Snow will be the most widespread between 6AM and 11AM, and dissipate throughout the afternoon, leaving us with about 1-2" of accumulation for much of the area.

Slick roads will be possible as temperatures will remain in the upper 20s to around 30 for much of the afternoon. The most vulnerable spots will be untreated bridges and overpasses.

Wind chills will stay in the teens for much of the day with a north breeze up to 10 mph.

With snow clearing out early in the day, minimal impacts to road conditions are expected for the Wednesday evening commute if road crews can get out in the afternoon and start clearing. Stay up to date with the hourly forecast with the ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather App.
