Jefferson City Fire Department responds to residential fire near Madison and Franklin

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Jefferson City fire department responded to a structure fire just before 3:30 p.m. on the 100 block of East Franklin Street.

Officials say the first crews arriving found a single single-story brick home with heavy fire showing from the rear of the structure.

Officials say the crews put out the fire in under 10 minutes.

The residence did suffer serious damage to the interior and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Assistant Fire Chief Jason Turner said no one was injured in the fire.

This happened right next to the  Capital Region Medical Center's COVID-19 drive-through testing area. Turner said they worked with medical staff to reroute traffic while crews responded to the scene.
