Cubs demolish the Cardinals in an 11-run, shutout victory to take the series

CHICAGO, Ill. (KMIZ)

The dominant win was the cherry on top of a successful weekend for Chicago's club, as the Cubs plated 28 runs through the last three games. On the flip side, STL couldn't buy runs over the course of the the last week. The club only scored nine times in the past six games, which was complimented by struggled on the hill, as well.
Starter Erick Fedde continued what's been a brutal week for the Red Bird pitching staff, on Sunday. The right-hander did not make it past two innings, going just 1.1 on the day and allowing three earned runs on two hits. He was charged with his third-straight loss, as a result, as he's given up 17 earned runs in that losing streak.
On the flip side, the Cardinals faced a pitcher on his way to the MLB All-Star game in Atlanta. Chicago's Matthew Boyd was spectacular at Wrigley Field, on Sunday. He pitched a shutout for 5.0 innings and only allowed three hits, while fanning nine St. Louis hitters.
Overall, St. Louis got out-hit 13-6 in the series finale.
Up next - Marmol's team will hope for better results in a new week. The Washington Nationals will visit Busch Stadium for a three-game set, beginning on Tuesday, July 8 at 6:45 p.m.
