ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Cardinals have collected series wins against two of their last three opponents.

St. Louis (16-19) won both games of Sunday's twin bill with New York (22-13), defeating the Mets 6-5 in game one and 5-4 in the nightcap.

Willson Contreras propelled his team to victory in the first contest, finishing 3-for-4 with three RBI's and his fourth home run of the season. St. Louis was tied with New York after three frames, but the Cardinals first baseman ended a four-run, fourth inning with a two-RBI single to give his team its largest lead. Brendan Donovan also contributed two hits and two RBI's while Nolan Arenado and Victor Scott II ended the game with multi-hit performances.

The Mets rallied to record three unanswered runs in the final four frames to cut their deficit to one run in the eighth inning, but JoJo Romero escaped a one-out, bases loaded jam to preserve the lead.

Erick Fedde was awarded the win for pitching five innings while allowing three runs on six hits with four strikeouts. Ryan Helsley also recorded his fifth save with a scoreless ninth frame.

Then, the Cardinals overcame a four-run frame in game two to sweep Sunday's double feature. After a pair of RBI singles from Arenado and Contreras tied the game 4-4 after three innings, Scott II delivered a go-ahead RBI double in the sixth frame, which proved to be the eventual game-winning run.

Alec Burleson launched his first home run of the season, ending the game as one of seven different players to record a hit for St. Louis. Arenado and Yohel Pozo each tallied two-hit days at the dish.

Michael McGreevy was the winning pitcher, tossing 5.2 shutout innings out of the bullpen. The young right-hander surrendered just one hit and struck out five batters during his outing.
