Cardinals swept in home series with Braves; Jordan Walker hits first big league homer
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMIZ)
The St. Louis Cardinals fell in three straight home games against the Atlanta Braves with the sweep secured Wednesday in a 5-2 Atlanta victory.
In the final game of the series, rookie Jordan Walker came up big for the Red Birds going 2-for-4 with the Cardinals only two RBI's of the game. Those two hits included Walker hitting his first home run in the big leagues to kick off the scoring in the seventh inning.
As a team, St. Louis put up just six hits on the day while Atlanta put together 10.
The Braves got off to a good start in the series finale with three runs in the first inning and another in the second. Miles Mikolas pitched six innings on the hill allowing nine hits, five runs and recording six strikeouts.
The Cardinals now sit at 2-4 on the year. Up next, the group will hit the road for a conference series at Milwaukee starting Friday at 7:10 p.m.
