Chiefs trade up in third round for Oklahoma OT Wanya Morris

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Kansas City Chiefs continued the trade-up trend on day two of the 2023 NFL Draft in the third round moving up three spots to take former Oklahoma offensive tackle Wanya Morris as the No. 92 overall pick.

The Chiefs originally sat at No. 95 in round three, but traded up three spots with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Morris was a five-star recruit from Grayson, Georgia. He started his career at Tennessee before becoming a Sooner. The 6-foot-5, 307 pound tackle ran a 5.1 at the 40-yard dash, 1.73 on the 10-yard split, had a 28.5’’ vertical and 9’ 3’’ broad jump.

This past season, Morris started eight of nine contests at right tackle for Oklahoma while missing time with a shoulder injury. He opted out of the team's bowl game to prepare for the draft.

The Chiefs traded away a sixth-round draft pick with the trade up that they received in round two from the Lions.
