Padres take series against the Royals in walk-off fashion

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KMIZ)
For the second-straight game, the Kansas City bats could not keep up with San Diego, as the Padres edged out the Royals in walk-off fashion, on Sunday, 3-2.
Jose Iglesias played hero for the Padres in the series victory. After Royals veteran Salvador Perez gave his team a two-run lead with a homer in the sixth, Iglesias tied up the game for his team with a two RBI single to right in the very next inning. Then, in the ninth, he did it again, as he grounded into a fielders choice to bring home the game-winning run.
The Royals actually ended up out-hitting the Padres 7-5, but went just 1-for-4 with runners in scoring position.
Pitcher Daniel Lynch got charged with the loss for Kansas City, as he allowed the game-winning run in the final inning. However, KC didn't get off to a bad start on the hill. In fact, starter Seth Lugo threw for 6.1 innings and only got charged with one earned run on two hits, while fanning seven Padre batters.
Kansas City is now two games below the .500 mark, sitting at 38-40 on the year.
Up next - Quatraro and company will return home to host the Tampa Bay Rays. First pitch in the three-game set is slated for 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24th.
