Cardinals sweep the Twins to open up the 2025 campaign

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMIZ)
A couple of three-run homers from Victor Scott II and Pedro Pages kept the St. Louis Cardinals undefeated to start the 2025 campaign, on Sunday. The Red Birds topped the Minnesota Twins 9-2 to get the series sweep.
Nolan Gorman hit the third home run of the day to put the cherry on top of St. Louis' sweep. It is the first time since 2006 that STL has started the year 3-0. It's also just the 17th 3-0 start in franchise history.
Pitcher Andre Pallante notched his first win of the season in 5.0 innings of work. He only allowed two earned runs on four hits, while striking out three batters. The fourth-year player did a nice job working out a jam in a critical moment in the third inning. St. Louis held a 3-1 lead over Minnesota, but the Twins went into attack-mode with an opportunity to take a lead. With two-on and one-out, Pallante retired both Byron Buxton and Trevor Larnach to get out of the mess unscathed.
Up next - St. Louis will open up a series against the Los Angeles Angels at Busch Stadium on Monday, March 31. First pitch is scheduled for 6:45 p.m.
