Royals win finale vs. Dodgers to claim series; first series win since mid-May
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Kansas City Royals seemed to find a mid-season spark this weekend at Kauffman Stadium getting the series win against the Los Angeles Dodgers. This marks KC's first series win since the middle of May.
In Sunday's finale, the Royals managed to put together 15 total hits to claim a 9-1 victory. The Royals had been winless in their past 12 series to tie the second-longest stretch in franchise history.
Nicky Lopez was the start of the show going 2-for-5 with four total RBI's. Maikel Garcia and Bobby Witt Jr. both drove in two runs apiece.
Brady Singer was dominate in his start on the hill allowing one run on three hits and four walks over seven innings. After Daniel Lynch’s win Saturday night, the Royals have back-to-back wins by starters for the first time in 93 games.
Kansas City still has a lot of work to do to turn the season around as they sit at 25-59, last in the AL central division.
Up next - the Royals will hit the road heading to Minnesota for a three-game series with the Twins. Games one is set for Monday at 7:10 p.m.
