LOS ANGELES, Ca. (KMIZ)

The St. Louis Cardinals were swept in a road series this weekend in Los Angeles as the Dodgers closed out the series finale on Sunday with a 6-3 victory.

The Red Birds managed to get on the board first plating two runs in the second inning, but four scoreless innings ended the game with a three-run loss.

Jake Woodford got the start on the hill allowing three runs on four hits in his four innings pitched, plus Zack Thompson took the loss allowing two more runs to come home in the fifth. Drew VerHagen pitched a scoreless/hitless inning of relief.

At the plate, Brendan Donovan went 2-for-4 with an RBI, plus Lars Nootbar and Dylan Carlson also had one hit and one RBI on the day.

The Cardinals go 2-8 on their west coast swing. They finish the month of April with a last-place record of 10-19 and are off to their worst start in 50 years.

Up next, the team returns to Busch Stadium for a three-game series with the Angels starting Tuesday at 6:45 p.m.
