ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMIZ)

After the Royals won the I-70 series opener, the St. Louis Cardinals bounced back on Tuesday winning 2-1 to walk away with a split. This also marks the end of 19 straight days that the Red Birds have been in game action.

Game two was a pitchers duel as Zach Greinke and Miles Mikolas didn't give up a run through five innings. Greinke threw five scoreless innings allowing two hits and picking up six strikeouts. On the other side, Mikolas allowed just three hits in eight scoreless innings and totaled 10 K's.

The first score of the day for the Cardinals came off of an RBI double from Nolan Arenado in the sixth, plus they tacked on an insurance run in the eighth off of a sac fly from Nolan Gorman.

The Royals sole run of the day came in the ninth off the bat of Bobby Witt Jr.

St. Louis now sits at 25-32 on the season and Kansas City at 17-39. The Cardinals will have a much needed two days off before starting up a series in Pittsburgh on Friday at 6:05 p.m. The Royals will also have a break before hosting the Rockies on Friday at 7:10 p.m.
