COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou Women's Basketball improved to 8-2 behind some late-game heroics.

Head Coach Kellie Harper's squad overcame a late seven-point deficit in the ACC/SEC Challenge, securing a 68-67 win over California behind a last-second layup from Shannon Dowell.

Dowell went on to finish the game with 25 points and seven rebounds. Just behind her, Grace Slaughter ended with 21 points and 10 rebounds. The duo accounted for two-thirds of the team's total points.

The Tigers led by just two points after the first half, and despite Cal going on a 12-2 run in the third quarter to lead by as many as seven points, MU rallied to draw even with the Golden Bears and take the lead in the final minute with a three-pointer from Grace Slaughter. Cal retook the lead with 30 seconds left, but Dowell sealed the deal with one second on the clock to pick up the Tiger's eighth win of the season.
