Randle’s last-second steal and score lifts Mizzou to win over Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KMIZ)

Mizzou Women's Basketball has snapped a 12-game losing skid to Arkansas.

The Tigers (14-16) earned their first win over the Razorbacks (9-21) since the 2018-19 season with a 75-73 victory, courtesy of a game-winning layup from Laniah Randle.

Thursday's win marked head coach Robin Pingeton's 250th career win, just one day after announcing she's stepping down from her position at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Entering the second half with a four-point disadvantage, MU put its recent third quarter struggles behind them. The Tigers erased its 35-31 halftime deficit with a 9-0 scoring run, fueled by a trio of three-pointers from Tilda Sjokvist and De'Myla Brown. Mizzou outscored Arkansas 17-14 in the third quarter.

Arkansas held the lead with less than one minute left on the clock, following the final three points of former Mizzou Tiger Izzy Higginbottom's 32-point performance. However, MU scored five of the last six points to win in come-from-behind fashion, propelled by Randle's steal and score with two seconds remaining.

The Southern Illinois Carbondale transfer delivered a stunning effort, posting a team-best 20 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Sjokvist scored a season-best 13 points, along with Grace Slaughter, who has reached double figures in 13 of the team's 15 SEC games. Brown also added 10 points and one steal.
