MU had to overcome a flat first half performance to capture its ninth win in 10 games. Lipscomb drained four three-pointers in the first five minutes of the game, building a lead as large as seven points in the first quarter.
However, head coach Robin Pingeton's group quickly erased its 14-8 deficit, following the first media timeout. Rock Bridge graduate Averi Kroenke started an 8-0 scoring run by connecting on a two-point jump shot at the 4:35-mark of the opening quarter, paving the way for her team to gain a two-point lead in less than a minute's worth of game time.
From there, neither Mizzou or Lipscomb manufactured an advantage bigger than four points, and MU was in danger of carrying a deficit into the locker room. However, De'Myla Brown supplied some energy at the halftime buzzer, posting a steal-and-score to give the Tigers a 35-34 lead at the break.
Brown's play brought some life back into Mizzou's bench, which was on full display in the second half. The Tigers trailed by one point about 30 seconds into the third quarter but immediately rallied to record a 9-0 scoring run, giving them a 44-36 advantage.
Coach Pingeton's team maintained control of the lead throughout the remainder of the second half and eventually extended it to 21 points by the end of the contest, outscoring Lipscomb by 11 points in the fourth quarter and 18-5 to end the game.
Sunday's win was a complete team effort. Five different Tigers scored in double figures, including Abbey Schreacke (16), Grace Slaughter (13), Brown (13), Laniah Randle (12) and Ashton Judd (10). Kroenke also finished the contest just one point shy of double-digit scoring.
MU hit 43.8% of its shots and 50% of its three-pointers, ending the evening with 10 triples. Schreacke was responsible for four of the team's three-pointers in this game.
The biggest difference between the two halves for the Tigers was turnovers. After committing 10 takeaways in the first half, the program cut that number down to just four in the third and fourth quarters combined.
Up next - Mizzou has just two games left in non-conference play before transitioning to its SEC slate, starting with Oral Roberts on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 6:30 p.m.
