Mizzou loses nail-biter to Texas A&M, drops second straight game

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou Women's Basketball lost its first matchup of its two-game homestand 69-67 against Texas A&M on Thursday night. The Tigers have now lost two consecutive SEC games and hold a 2-5 record in conference play.

A slow start for Robin Pingeton's crew in the first half made the difference in this contest. The Tigers only made four field goals in the first 16 minutes of the game and faced a deficit as large as 11 points in the first half. Before the break, Mizzou only shot 33.3% from the field and 22.2% from three-point range.

Despite the first half struggles, the Tigers found a rhythm on offense after halftime and even held a two-point lead over the Aggies with less than two minutes left in the contest. However, Texas A&M was able to close out the game, handing Mizzou its fifth SEC loss. The Tigers made 56.5% of their shots in the second half, including 71.4% of their triples.

Hayley Frank scored more than 20 points for a third straight game, finishing with a game-high 26 points. Frank knocked down four of her seven three-point attempts and added seven rebounds. Four different Tigers scored in double figures on Thursday night, including true freshman Grace Slaughter who posted 13 points.
