Mizzou sweeps SEMO in final contest of non-conference action

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Show Me State bragging rights belong to Mizzou Volleyball. The Tigers ended non-conference play in dominating fashion with a 3-0 win over Southeast Missouri State (SEMO) on Wednesday night.

Following Wednesday's win, Mizzou finished the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 9-3 record, including a six-game winning streak against non-SEC opponents.

MU swept all three sets, winning by final scores of 25-15, 25-20 and 25-11 respectively. Dawn Sullivan's squad also closed out the evening on a commanding note, ending the third set on a 12-1 scoring run.

Four different Tigers finished the contest with double-digit kills, led by Jordan Iliff, who posted a game-high 14 kills and four service aces. Mychael Vernon also ended the game with 12 kills, followed by Regan Haith and Janet deMarrais with 10 kills each.

Collectively, Mizzou recorded better results than SEMO in nearly every statistical category, posting 25 more kills, six more service aces and two more blocks than the visitors.

Up next - MU is set to host its first SEC opponent of the season at the Hearnes Center. Alabama is scheduled to visit Columbia on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m.
