Mizzou Volleyball unveils complete 2024 schedule

KMIZ

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou Volleyball's schedule for the team's second season under head coach Dawn Sullivan is set. The Tigers released their entire 2024 slate on Monday, which features 12 regular season matchups at home and 10 games against 2023 NCAA Tournament teams.

After hosting its annual Black & Gold Scrimmage and an exhibition matchup with Omaha, the reigning Co-SEC Coach of the Year will lead MU to the Cornhusker State for their regular season opener in the Blue Jay Invitational against Drake on Friday, Aug. 30 at 3:30 p.m.

Two weeks later, the Tigers host UMKC in the Mizzou Invitational on Friday, Sept. 13 at 11:30 a.m. for their home opener at the Hearnes Center. MU will also face UT Martin and Lindenwood at the event on Friday, Sept. 13 and Sunday, Sept. 15 respectively.

Overall, Sullivan's crew begins the 2024 campaign with about four weeks of non-conference action before turning the page to SEC play. Mizzou's conference opener is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 27 at LSU, which kicks off a three-game SEC road trip. Then, after a quick break to face Southeast Missouri State (SEMO) in non-conference action, Alabama travels to Columbia for MU's first home SEC matchup of the season on Friday, Oct. 11.

The entire conference slate consists of 16 games. Every SEC volleyball program will play each member of the conference at least once during the season and will also face two opponents twice. Mizzou's home-and-away SEC matchups this season include Kentucky and Mississippi State.

The new SEC schedule format also means Mizzou will play both of its former Big 12 Conference rivals in 2024. The Tigers have back-to-back games on the road against the Oklahoma Sooners and the two-time defending NCAA Champion Texas Longhorns on Sunday, Oct. 27 and Friday, Nov. 1 respectively. Then, seven games later, MU wraps up the regular season with its SEC finale against Auburn, which will be the team's Senior Day game.

The Tigers are aiming to build off its stellar start to the Dawn Sullivan era. Mizzou vastly improved in its first season under Sullivan's leadership, earning an 18-13 overall record, nine SEC wins, and its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2020. In the two years prior to Sullivan's arrival, MU posted just four conference wins during the 2021 and 2022 seasons combined.
