Mizzou run-rules George Mason, wins 11th consecutive non-conference game
FAIRFAX, Va. (KMIZ)
Mizzou Softball has played 26 non-conference contests so far this season, and the Tigers have only lost two of them. Larissa Anderson's crew run-ruled George Mason 11-2 in six innings on Thursday evening, marking the team's 11th straight win over a non-conference opponent.
After taking the first lead of the game on an RBI double from Mya Dodge in the second inning, Mizzou rallied to score four more runs in the third frame to extend its lead to 5-0, sparked by an RBI single from Maddie Gallagher.
The Tigers posted another four-run frame in the sixth inning, highlighted by a three-RBI double from Dodge with the bases loaded. The Northern Iowa transfer recorded three doubles and five RBI's in this game.
Six different Tigers ended this contest with at least one RBI and one hit, including a pair of two-hit performances from Gallagher and Kayley Lenger.
In the circle, Lilly Whitten improved her flawless record to 4-0 this season, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out six batters over five innings of work.
Up next - Mizzou closes out its four-game East Coast road trip with a meeting against Villanova. First pitch for this contest is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 30.
