Mizzou blanked by Alabama, loses fifth straight game

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou Soccer's scoreless streak has reached five straight games.

The Tigers (4-8-1) surrendered a 3-0 shutout to Alabama (9-4-1), representing the fifth consecutive game that the team has failed to score. MU's last goal was registered in the second half of its win over Texas on Sept. 12, which equates to more than 450 minutes of game time.

MU got stuck in a two-goal hole within the first seven minutes of the match, giving up scores to Larkin Thomason and Cameron Silva. Melina Rebimbas rounded out the scoring with Alabama's third goal of the game in the 86th minute.

Despite suffering a three-goal defeat, the Tigers actually matched the Crimson Tide in shots on goal (5). Mia Yang, Ava Lamothe, Emily Derucki, Brianna Buels and Callaway Combs each fired an on-target shot.

However, Madi Munguia finished 5-for-5 in save opportunities while Kate Phillips posted saves on just three of six occasions.

Up next - Mizzou will strive to end its scoreless streak on its road trip to No. 24 Vanderbilt on Friday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.
