Mizzou kicks off 2024 regular season with shutout win

Mizzou Soccer captured its first win of the new season in shutout fashion. Stefanie Golan's team cruised to a 2-0 win over Show Me State rival Missouri State on Thursday night in MU's 2024 regular season debut.
Milena Fischer had the honor of scoring Mizzou's first goal of the regular season, driving a shot past Missouri State goalkeeper Camielle Day off a deflection in the 9th minute. The SEC's reigning top goal-scorer Kylee Simmons posted an assist on the play. Then, Keegan Good added to MU's lead in the second half with her fourth career collegiate goal in the 55th minute.
Mizzou goalkeeper Bella Hollenbach posted a shutout effort, recording four saves during Thursday's action. Counting their two exhibition games, the Tigers have yet to allow a single goal this year, outscoring their opponents 6-0 through three contests.
MU finished the night with 15 shots, four more than the Bears, and six corner kicks, which also exceeded Missouri State's total by four.
