Mizzou ties South Carolina 1-1, snaps four-game skid
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou soccer didn't get back in the win column on Sunday afternoon at Audrey J. Walton Stadium, but the Tigers' match with 13th ranked South Carolina did end in a draw on senior day. Sunday's tie snapped Mizzou's four-game losing streak.
Neither team found the back of the net in the first half, but South Carolina opened up the scoring at the 62nd minute mark. Corinna Zullo scored the first goal of the match to give the Gamecocks a 1-0 lead.
Trailing late in the second half, the Tigers capitalized on a corner kick opportunity. Milena Fischer's kick landed at the feet of Scarlett Thomas, and she buried her first goal of the season to tie the match 1-1.
Mizzou and South Carolina both had 12 shots in the match, but the Gamecocks had three more shots on goal compared to the Tigers.
Goalkeeper Bella Hollenbach put together a good performance for the Tigers, finishing with six saves.
Up next - Mizzou will look to secure its first win since Sept. 15 when the Tigers travel to Nashville to face Vanderbilt on Oct. 13. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
