Mizzou lands fourth transfer portal pledge of offseason

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou men's basketball has added another center to its transfer portal haul.
Head Coach Dennis Gates and his staff received a commitment from Arizona State transfer Shawn Phillips Jr., per an announcement on social media. The Ohio native chose the Tigers over Kansas, Villanova, Memphis and Cincinnati.
MU marks the third school that Phillips Jr. will play for in his college basketball career. He played his freshman season at LSU before spending the last two years at Arizona State.
The 7-foot, 245-pound senior made 12 appearances in the starting lineup with the Sun Devils last season, averaging 5.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Phillips Jr. finished the campaign as the No. 3-ranked rebounder and second-best shot blocker on the team, recording 34 blocks over 31 games. He also posted the top-ranked field goal percentage (.573) at Arizona State during the 2024-25 campaign, among players with at least 100 shot attempts.
Phillips Jr. joins Sebastian Mack (SG), Luke Northweather (C) and Jevon Porter (PF) as the four players who have transferred to Mizzou this offseason. According to On3, the team's current transfer portal class is the No. 45-ranked group in the nation.
