Fr. Tolton Catholic alum transfers to Mizzou
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A family tradition will live on at Mizzou Arena next season.
According to a report from ESPN's Jeff Borzello, Jevon Porter has committed to Mizzou Men's Basketball, marking the program's first transfer portal acquisition of the offseason.
The Loyola Maramount transfer will become the fifth of his siblings to suit up for the Tigers. His older brother Michael Porter Jr., an NBA Champion with the Denver Nuggets and a former No. 1-ranked high school recruit in the nation, played at MU during the 2017-2018 season. Porter's brother Jontay (2017-19) and sisters Bri (2014-16) and Cierra (2015-19) also wore the family name on the back of a Mizzou jersey.
The Fr. Tolton Catholic graduate started his collegiate career at Pepperdine where he averaged 13.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game over two seasons. After that, Porter transferred to Loyola Maramount for his junior season, and his numbers stayed consistent. The 6-foot-11 forward recorded 12.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game last season while shooting .394 from the field over 31 games.
While Porter is Mizzou's first pledge of the current transfer portal cycle, the Tigers have had three players make plans to transfer out of the program. MU forward Aidan Shaw, forward Danny Stephens and guard JV Brown each entered the transfer portal on Tuesday.
