OFFICIAL: Mizzou signs nation’s active points leader

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The nation's top scorer at the NCAA Division I level is officially joining the Mizzou men's basketball roster. Northern Kentucky transfer Marques Warrick put pen to paper on Wednesday, signing with Dennis Gates and the Tigers.

“Marques is a high-scoring combo guard who has produced every year of his college career,” Dennis Gates said in Wednesday's press release. “We saw firsthand how talented he was during our time in the Horizon League and know how difficult he is to prepare for. Marques is great at creating his own shot and his ability to score translates at every level. He is a great compliment to Tony Perkins and the combination of that backcourt puts us among the top of the SEC.”

Warrick has scored 2,246 career points over four seasons at Northern Kentucky, making him the country's active leader in points scored. He is also Northern Kentucky's all-time leading scorer and ranks No. 7 in scoring in Horizon League history.

The four-time All-Horizon League selection was rated as the No. 20 overall player in the transfer portal, according to Rivals.

During the 2023-24 campaign, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound guard averaged 19.9 points per game, which was the 36th-best mark in the nation. At the end of last season, Warrick became one of just 10 players in the country to score at least 600 points in each of the last two campaigns. He also posted 82 rebounds and 80 assists last season.

Warrick is now the third Mizzou signee of the current spring transfer portal window. He joins UT Martin transfer Jacob Crews and Iowa transfer Tony Perkins as the three players to officially sign with the Tigers. Mizzou's transfer class is currently ranked No. 6 in the nation.
