Mizzou wide receiver Marquis Johnson set to enter transfer portal

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Tigers are set to lose another major offensive contributor.

On Wednesday, Marquis Johnson declared that he intends to leave Mizzou and enter the transfer portal once it opens. The news was first reported by Power Mizzou, but was later reposted on social media by Johnson. He is not expected to play in the Gator Bowl.

This season, the Junior was third on the Tigers in receiving yards with 340, and got into the end zone twice. His best single-game performance came in the opener against Central Arkansas, where he caught five passes for 134 yards and a touchdown.

Over the course of his career at MU, Johnson finished with 1,075 yards, surpassing the 300 mark in each of his three seasons.

He is the third wide receiver to announce his decision to leave the university, joining Joshua Manning and James Madison II.
