Mizzou football heading to Jacksonville to play in the Gator Bowl

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Tigers are heading to the Sunshine State for the football season finale.
Mizzou football will be playing in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on Dec. 27. MU will be taking on the ACC runner up; No. 19 Virginia. This will be head coach Eli Drinkwitz's sixth time qualifying for a bowl game since being hired. The Tigers are 2-2 in the postseason with him at the helm, most recently picking up a 27-24 win in the Music City Bowl against Iowa.
This will be the fourth time in program history that MU will head to the Gator Bowl, with a 1-2 record in previous matchups. The Tigers' last appearance in this game was in 1968, marking the end of a near-60-year hiatus.
Virginia fell in overtime of the ACC Championship game to Duke for its third loss of the season on Saturday. The Cavaliers will be the fifth ranked opponent Mizzou has faced this season.
It is just the second time in school history that these two teams have faced off. The only other game went the way of the Tigers, 31-7, back in 1973.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 on Saturday, Dec. 27, and will be aired on KMIZ.
