Mizzou adjusts kickoff time for showdown with Louisiana

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

No. 25 Mizzou Football has made an adjustment to its scheduled kickoff time against Louisiana.

MU Athletics announced that Saturday's game will begin at 12 p.m. rather than its original 3 p.m. start time, due to expected extreme heat. The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team is tracking a high temperature of 96 degrees on Saturday.

The contest will still be broadcasted on ESPN+ and SEC Network+ despite the adjusted kickoff time.

"Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our student-athletes and the game-day experience for our fans," Mizzou Athletics Director Laird Veatch said in a press release. "We are incredibly grateful to our fans for their understanding and flexibility as we make this adjustment. With extreme heat in the forecast, especially later in the afternoon, we believe it's necessary to move kickoff earlier in the day to ensure the safest and most enjoyable experience possible for everyone who will be part of Saturday's sold-out game at Memorial Stadium."

Saturday's game will mark the halfway point of Mizzou's stretch of six straight home games to start the 2025 season. Previously, the Tigers defeated Central Arkansas (61-6) and Kansas (42-31) to clinch a 2-0 overall record for a third straight year.

MU also boasts a 12-game winning streak at Faurot Field, dating back to the 2023 season. Mizzou's last loss on its home turf was against LSU on Oct. 7, 2023.

The Tigers will welcome a 15th straight sellout crowd to Memorial Stadium for its first-ever meeting with Louisiana on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 12 p.m.
