REPORTS: Sam Horn undergoes surgery, will miss remainder of season

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou quarterback Sam Horn's 2025 season has met an early end.

According to a report from ESPN's Pete Thamel, the dual-sport athlete had successful surgery on his right leg to repair a fractured tibia, an operation that will sideline him for the rest of the 2025 campaign. Thamel also reports that doctors expect Horn to have a complete recovery.

Horn, who was battling for MU's starting quarterback job in Week 1, suffered the leg injury on a 6-yard run in the team's season opener against Central Arkansas. It was the redshirt junior's first snap of the contest.

The Georgia native has appeared in five games over his collegiate career, completing 3-of-8 passes for 54 yards and one touchdown. He's also rushed the ball five times for 15 yards during that stretch.

Horn, who's also a professional baseball prospect, was recently selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 17th round of the 2025 MLB Draft, reportedly signing a contract with the organization that's worth $497,500. While playing football, he pitched on Mizzou's baseball team. Horn made seven appearances with the Tigers, including five starts, registering a 3.00 ERA and 20 strikeouts over 15 innings.

Beau Pribula and Matt Zollers remain as Mizzou's top two quarterbacks on the depth chart ahead of Saturday's game against Louisiana.
