Mizzou chooses 2025 SEC Media Days representatives
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou Football is bringing an experienced lineup of returning talent to 2025 SEC Media Days.
The Southeastern Conference (SEC) announced that Daylan Carnell, Connor Tollison and Zion Young will accompany head coach Eli Drinkwitz to the annual event at the Omni Atlanta Hotel and College Football Hall of Fame. It's the first time that all three student-athletes were chosen to represent the team at SEC Media Days.
Carnell, who is entering his fifth year with the Tigers, was the team's starting safety each of the last two seasons. The Indiana native has been a consistent, all-around contributor and leader of Mizzou's defense, posting 133 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss, three sacks, four interceptions, four forced fumbles and 24 passes defensed over 43 career games. He has also returned a turnover for a touchdown in each of the last three campaigns.
Tollison is also entering his fifth season at Mizzou, preparing to return to action after suffering a season-ending injury last year. The team's three-year starter at center has played 2,356 snaps over 37 games in his career and helped guide an offensive line that was the No. 7-ranked and No. 10-ranked unit in the nation in time of possession (32:54) and red zone offense (46-for-50) last season, respectively. The Jackson High School alum was also a leader of a group that allowed the fourth-least and seventh-least tackles for loss (4.62) and sacks per game (2.00) in the country last year, respectively.
Young enjoyed his debut season with the Tigers during the 2024 campaign, following two years at Michigan State. The defensive end established himself as one of the team's top pass rushers last season, recording 42 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 13 games. The Georgia native also tallied a game-winning, scoop-and-score against Oklahoma last season, which led to a victory over the Sooners in their debut campaign in the SEC.
Coach Drinkwitz and Mizzou's student-athletes are scheduled to speak on Thursday, July 17.
