Mizzou concludes practice No. 10 of fall camp
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou Football has officially completed double-digit practices at the 2024 edition of fall camp. Eli Drinkwitz and company wrapped up the team's 10th practice of camp on Friday afternoon at its practice fields behind the Mizzou Athletics Training Complex.

There's still plenty of competition taking place at fall camp in multiple position groups as many players strive to potentially earn a starting spot or bolster their role on the team. So far, the players say that competitive mindset has remained strong through 10 practices.
"There's a lot of competition in all the different rooms and just throughout the team, and Coach Drink and Coach Russ have been doing a really good job, the whole staff really, at keeping our body healthy but also we're grinding and getting after it every day," Mizzou linebacker Corey Flagg said.

Mizzou transfers Marcus Bryant and Jayven Richardson are among the team's new offensive linemen competing for playing time this season. That duo is also aiming to help maintain the offensive line's momentum after its standout season in 2023.
"That's what it's all about. That's what I came here for to build the brotherhood and compete for a spot," Richardson said. "That's what football is about is competing and the best guy will play."
"I just want to be the best left tackle in the country, so that's what I wanted to do and really display on a bigger level," Bryant said. "That's why I feel like this was the right place for me."

This year's fall camp has also provided a great opportunity for several second-year players to grow and compete after completing a full season with the team in 2023. Wide receiver Daniel Blood and defensive back Nic DeLoach are two of those athletes aiming to carve out a bigger role with the team in 2024 and take their game to another level.
"I think it's confidence and being comfortable. Just coming from high school to college, the pace is really fast. The players are better, of course, so it's just like getting comfortable," Blood said. "This is year two, and I'm getting more comfortable with the plays, the details and stuff like that."
"I've just become more confident and trusting the coaching," DeLoach said. "Last year, I really used to rely on my athleticism, but I learned I have to trust my technique and trust my coaching."

After Friday's action, Mizzou now has seven practices left of fall camp ahead of their first week of game preparation for its season opener against Murray State on Aug. 29.
