Mizzou lands former South Alabama linebacker out of transfer portal
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou Football has added its 15th transfer of the offseason to its upcoming 2024-25 roster. Eli Drinkwitz and his coaching staff secured some more depth at the linebacker position by landing a commitment from Khalil Jacobs out of the transfer portal, who chose the Tigers over Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss.
The former South Alabama linebacker is reuniting with Corey Batoon, who served as Jacobs' defensive coordinator during his three seasons with the Jaguars.
The 6-foot-2, 218-pound defensive player from Niceville, Florida, wrapped up his sophomore campaign last season, posting 56 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, three forced fumbles and one interception over 13 games. He also appeared in 11 games during his freshman season.
Jacobs joins linebacker Jeremiah Beasley, defensive lineman Eddie Kelly and offensive tackle Marcus Bryant as Mizzou's four transfer portal additions during the spring window. Jacobs, Bryant and Kelly are rated as three-star transfers while Beasley is listed as a four-star prospect, according to 247 Sports.
MU's newest transfer will have two years of eligibility left when he joins the Tigers this season.
