Gary Pinkel joins College Football Playoff Selection Committee
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Mizzou legend is joining the College Football Playoff (CFP) Selection Committee. The CFP Management Committee announced it has appointed former Tiger football coach Gary Pinkel and former Mizzou Athletics Director Mack Rhoades. They will both begin three-year terms starting in the Spring.
Pinkel was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame back in 2022 and was the head football coach at Mizzou for 15 seasons. Pinkel finished his coaching career with the most wins all-time as a head coach at both Mizzou and Toledo. Rhoades is currently serving as the athletics director at Baylor University but held the same position at Mizzou from 2015 to 2016.
The College Football Playoff will expand to 12 teams this upcoming season. The selection committee will choose the teams who earn a spot in the playoff bracket and will begin ranking the top 25 teams in college football late in the season.
