Mizzou signs offensive and defensive coordinators to contract extensions
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Offensive Coordinator Kirby Moore and Defensive Coordinator Blake Baker are staying with the Mizzou football program. The team announced on social media that both Moore and Baker have signed contract extensions.
The details about both coordinators' contract extensions have not been released.
Eli Drinkwitz hinted at Wednesday's press conference that the team could release news about both coordinators over the next 36 to 48 hours. Drinkwitz also talked about how both Moore and Baker have elevated the program.
"Who they are individually is never going to supersede who we are as a team, but we want everyone to have their own individual identity with that team-first mindset. I think Blake does a really good job with that in his coaching style and relating to the players but also demanding excellence, and I really think coach Moore has done a lot of the same, low ego, high output performance," Drinkwitz said at Wednesday's press conference.
In Moore's debut season as Mizzou's offensive coordinator, he led the Tiger offense to score about 34 points per game and record about 443 yards of total offense per game. Last season, Mizzou's offense only averaged about 25 points per game and about 370 yards of total offense per game. Moore's offense also finished the regular season fifth in the SEC in total yards and sixth in the conference in points per game.
Baker took over as Mizzou's defensive coordinator last season. In his second season with the team, Baker's defense ranked fourth in sacks and tied for first in forced turnovers in the SEC.
