Drinkwitz named SEC Coach of the Year, Cook earns Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou football coach Eli Drinkwitz was voted the SEC's Coach of the Year by the conference's head coaches on Wednesday afternoon. Mizzou quarterback Brady Cook also received some recognition, being named the SEC's Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Drinkwitz earned this honor after leading the Tigers to their first 10-win season since 2014 and the program's highest ranking in the College Football Playoff era. Mizzou football's fourth-year head coach was also voted SEC Coach of the Year by the Associated Press earlier this week.
Cook was tabbed SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year as a three-time member of the conference's academic honor roll. The Tigers' starting quarterback was ranked third in the SEC in passing yards this season with 3,189.
The Tigers finished the regular season with a 10-2 overall record and will face Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl on Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. at AT&T Stadium in Texas.
