Auburn snaps Mizzou baseball’s 13-game win streak in SEC opener

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

In a clash of the Tigers, No. 6 Auburn squeaked out at Taylor Stadium, 2-0.

Head Coach Kerrick Jackson and company took on the toughest competition they have seen so far this season. In the first conference action of 2026, Mizzou faced the first of five top-10 opponents they're set to see.

This game was evenly matched through most of the game. Javyn Pimental was surgical on the mount for the home side, throwing six innings with five strikeouts, shutting down one of the best offenses in the country. He allowed just three hits and no runs during his stint, with just three.

The pitching on the other side was just as good, as Jake Marciano for Auburn gave Mizzou's hitters trouble all night, allowing just two hits in his seven innings of work.

The stale mate was eventually broken in the eighth, when Bub Terrell crushed a two-run homer over the right center field wall to put the visitors in front, for his fourth long shot of the season.

During the next at bat, Taylor Stadium experienced some technical difficulties with the lighting that forced the game into a near two-hour delay, before they could finish the final two innings.

Once the lights came back on, Mizzou's bats lit back up. Cam Benson and Mateo Serna hit a pair of singles in the bottom of the ninth, but couldn't get any runs back, as Aubrun takes the defensive showdown.

Up Next - Game two of the first series of SEC play between Mizzou and No. 6 Auburn is scheduled to get underway at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 14.
