No. 1 Arkansas sweeps Mizzou in SEC opening weekend

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KMIZ)

The first SEC series of the Kerrick Jackson era of Mizzou Baseball ended without a Tiger victory. MU was unable to topple the top-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks, losing all three games in the series by six runs or more.

Mizzou was shut out in two of its three games against Arkansas and scored just one run in the weekend series. Thomas Curry's solo home run during Sunday's action was the lone run that the Tigers scored against the Razorbacks. As a team, Mizzou only posted eight total hits in the series.

Meanwhile, Mizzou's pitching staff allowed 19 earned runs and gave up eight home runs in the three-game set.

The Tigers currently sit two games below the .500-mark with a 9-11 overall record and have not captured its first SEC win of the season yet.

Up next - Mizzou has a rematch with rival Kansas on Tuesday at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. The Tigers will look to sweep the season series with the Jayhawks on March 19 at 6 p.m.
