Mizzou cross country finishes regular season with a pair of top-three finishes

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Tigers' cross country teams concluded the regular season at the Pre-National Invitational this morning at Gans Creek Cross Country Course.

The No. 19 Mizzou men took home the silver in the 8k race with a score of 164, beating out conference rivals No. 24 Ole Miss and Texas.

Drew Rogers (Senior) finished first for MU with a time of 23:24.7, coming across the line in 12th. Freshman Elijah Limo was the next tiger across in 14th, running 23:25.8. His result was the second-highest of any freshman in the field.

The No. 21 women were the third-place team in their race, scoring 216 points, ahead of nationally ranked No. 30 Tennessee and No. 23 Boston College. No. 1 BYU and No. 19 Villanova had the two highest team finishes with 25 and 170 points.

Monica Wanjiku (Freshman) led the Tigers and was the ninth-place finisher overall. This was her second consecutive race leading the team, and ran 19:47.9 over 6k. Rahel Broemmel (Junior) was the next Mizzou runner across with a 20:31.4 to take 43rd.
