Late surge pushes No. 1 Oklahoma over Mizzou for the series win
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Just one day after stunning No. 1 Oklahoma and handing the Sooners their first loss of the season, Mizzou softball couldn't quite recreate that same magic in the series finale. The four-time national champions topped Mizzou 5-1, on Sunday, to take the series win in Columbia.

However, the Tigers did still show they can hang with the top team in the land.
The game was actually tied at one run apiece entering the sixth inning, but a two-run home run off the bat of Kasidi Pickering put Oklahoma on top and they never looked back, adding on a couple more in the final frame.
MU pitcher Marissa McCann spun a good game, on Sunday, despite the loss. She went for 5.2 innings and struck out five batters, allowing three earned runs on three hits. All three of the run she let go came off of home runs, the first from Nelly McEnroe-Marinas in the fourth inning and the second coming from Pickering near the end of the game. All-in-all, McCann pitched about three innings of shutout softball. She was handed the loss, though, to drop to 7-6 on the year.
McCann didn't have a whole lot of offense backing her up. In fact, Mizzou's only production came off the bat of Julia Crenshaw. The catcher blasted a solo home run in the third inning to take the first lead of the game, but the Tiger bats went quite after that.
Overall, Mizzou left tallied four hits in the loss to Oklahoma and left four runners on base.
Up next - the Tigers will host Kansas for rivalry action on Wednesday, March 26. First pitch is slated for 8 p.m.
