Griffin achieves perfection, Mizzou wins ‘Zou to the Lou’ quad meet

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou gymnast Kennedy Griffin has joined some elite company.
The Ohio native became the sixth student-athlete in program history to post a perfect 10.000, lifting the Tigers (10-3) to a quad win over No. 14 Alabama, Illinois and Iowa with a 197.150 score.
Griffin recorded MU's second-ever perfect score on floor to join Helen Hu, Sienna Schreiber, Mara Titarsolej, Jocelyn Moore and Lauren Schwartzman as the only gymnasts in program history to earn a 10.000 on any event.
Mizzou's standout sophomore led the Tigers to a 49.725 effort on floor, marking the program's best score on that apparatus in team history. Griffin, Jocelyn Moore, Amari Celestine, Railey Jackson and Elise Tisler all reached or surpassed the 9.900-mark in that event.
Celestine won the All-Around title while matching the seventh-best overall score in program history with a 39.625, and the senior gymnast was also crowned a co-champion on bars with a 9.950 performance.
Collectively, MU out-performed all three of its opponents on bars (49.275), beam (49.300) and floor (49.725). However, Mizzou's fourth straight team score of 197.000 or better was dragged down by the team's tally on vault, finishing in last place with a 48.850 performance.
Up next - The Tigers return to the Hearnes Center for a showdown with No. 11 Georgia on Friday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.
