Sophie Cunningham traded to Indiana in three-team deal

Mizzou Women's Basketball's all-time leading scorer is joining forces with a transcendent WNBA star.
According to a report from ESPN, the Phoenix Mercury have traded Sophie Cunningham to the Indiana Fever in a three-team deal. Following the trade, Cunningham will now share the court with her new teammate Caitlin Clark.
The three-team trade sent Satou Sabally, Kalani Brown and Sevgi Uzun to Phoenix from Dallas. In return, Dallas got Ty Harris, NaLyssa Smith, rights to Kiki Herbert Harrigan and the No. 8 overall WNBA draft choice from Indiana. Finally, Indiana received Cunningham and the No. 19 overall pick from Phoenix.
The Rock Bridge graduate played the first six seasons of her professional career with the Mercury. Cunningham averaged 7.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game during that six-year span. She also owns a .422 field goal percentage for her WNBA career.
During her Mizzou career, the 6-foot-1 guard surpassed 2,000 career points, averaging 17.0 per game. Cunningham also earned AP third-team All-America honors and was named an AP All-America Honorable Mention twice at the collegiate level. MU Women's Basketball reached the NCAA Tournament four times with Cunningham leading the program.
Cunningham will make her debut with the Indiana Fever on Saturday, May 17 against the Chicago Sky. Tipoff for that game is scheduled for 12 p.m.
