Mizzou wrestler set to miss Utah Valley dual with injury

KMIZ

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Another Mizzou wrestler is nursing an injury midway through the 2024-25 season.

The team announced Colton Hawks will not wrestle in Friday's dual with Utah Valley, due to an injury that he suffered on Jan. 12 against Stanford. MU will evaluate his status on a week-to-week basis.

The nation's No. 9-ranked wrestler in the 184-pound weight class pinned his most recent opponent at Sunday's Stanford dual within the final 15 seconds of the match to earn one of the team's two wins, excluding the forfeit in the 125-pound bout.

Hawks adds to the slew of injuries that Tiger Style is battling with just six duals remaining before the Big-12 Championships. Mizzou has already announced four-time All-American Rocky Elam is out for the season, two-time NCAA Champion Keegan O'Toole will miss the month of January and four-time NCAA qualifier Noah Surtin has medically retired from wrestling.

No. 24-ranked MU is scheduled to face Utah Valley on Jan. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hearnes Center.
