Brady Cook named back-to-back SEC Scholar-Athlete of Year

KMIZ

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou's starting quarterback is repeating as the SEC's top scholar-athlete.

The Southeastern Conference (SEC) crowned Brady Cook as the league's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the 2024-25 football season, joining Tim Tebow and Barrett Jones as the only three football players in conference history to win the award in back-to-back years. Cook is also a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, an honor awarded to college football's best scholar-athlete.

The graduate student earned a bachelor's degree from the university with magna cum laude honors in Dec. 2022 and is currently completing the requirements for a Master's of Business Administration degree. He's also a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll recipient.

Cook's accomplishments also span beyond the classroom. The MU quarterback is currently fourth on the program's all-time passing yards list, sitting just 73 yards behind catching legend Brad Smith for the third spot. During his final season, Cook compiled 2,248 passing yards and nine passing touchdowns to just two interceptions. He has also rushed for 169 yards and five touchdowns.

Cook will play the final game of his MU career when the team closes out the season in its bowl game, which will be announced on Sunday, Dec. 8.
