Mizzou named host for two NCAA postseason events

Mizzou Athletics will be bringing a pair of NCAA postseason events to life in 2027. The NCAA has selected the university to host the 2027 Wrestling Championships and a Men's and Women's Cross Country Regional.
"We are incredibly excited and honored to be selected as hosts for these marquee NCAA events," Mizzou Athletics Director Laird Veatch said in Wednesday's press release. "This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase our student-athletes, our facilities and our incredible university on a national stage. Our commitment to hosting elite competitions aligns with our broader mission to provide a first-class experience for both our student-athletes and fans. We look forward to welcoming competitors from across the country to Columbia and St. Louis in the coming years."
Mizzou will host the 2027 NCAA Wrestling Championships at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis. This will mark the 10th time that the University of Missouri has hosted the event in the Gateway City. Mizzou Athletics also just served as the host for the NCAA Wrestling Championships, holding the event in Kansas City at T-Mobile Center last season.
"This is exciting news! The city of St. Louis takes pride in hosting NCAA championship events as they have in the past with hockey, gymnastics, basketball and, of course, the wrestling championships," Mizzou Wrestling Coach Brian Smith said in the press release. "This will be the 10th time St. Louis and Mizzou have co-hosted the NCAA Wrestling Championships. This is always a premier event because of the commitment from the St. Louis Blues, Enterprise Center, the St. Louis Sports Commission, Mizzou and the great people of St. Louis."
Beforehand, a 2027 NCAA Men's and Women's Cross Country Regional will be hosted in Columbia at the Gans Creek course, a venue that's held a string of recent championship events. Since the Gans Creek Cross Country Course opened in 2019, the 2021 SEC Championships and the 2022 NCAA Midwest Regional have all been held at the facility. Next year, the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships will also be hosted at Gans Creek.
"We are thrilled to showcase our world-class cross country facility at both the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships and now the 2027 NCAA Regional event," Mizzou Track and Field Coach Brett Halter said in Wednesday's press release. "It is an honor to represent our sport at the national level. We hope to continue building Gans Creek Cross Country Course as the premier destination for our sport."
This athletics season, the 2024 NCAA Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships are set for Nov. 23 at Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Wisconsin while the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships will be in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center from March 20-22.
