Sean East II officially signs deal with Lakers
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KMIZ)
Former Mizzou Tiger Sean East II is officially getting a chance to take his talents to the professional level. The 6-foot-3 guard signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday.
An Exhibit 10 deal is a one-year, minimum salary contract that essentially allows a player to try-out for a spot on an NBA or G-League roster during training camp. Then, all franchises must decide by the start of the regular season if they want to convert that player's Exhibit 10 deal into a two-way contract, which would allow that athlete to be eligible to compete on either the team's NBA or G-League affiliate roster during the impending season. However, if a franchise chooses to waive a player on an Exhibit 10 contract at the end of the preseason, the team can decide if they want to designate that athlete to compete solely on a G-League roster.
East II enjoyed a breakout SEC season with the Tigers in his final collegiate campaign. He posted a team-high 17.6 points, 4.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game last season. His scoring and assists averages ranked No. 5 and No. 6 respectively in the conference during the 2023-24 season. The 2024 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year also ended the campaign with a .521 shooting percentage and a .450 three-point percentage.
The Mizzou graduate joins Los Angeles Clippers first round draft pick Kobe Brown and Los Angeles Lakers free agent signee D'Moi Hodge as one of the three Tigers in the last two years to sign a deal with an NBA franchise.
