Mizzou Gymnastics signs four athletes to transfer portal class

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou Gymnastics has officially made four additions to its 2025 roster. On Monday, Shannon Welker and his coaching staff signed San Jose State transfer Lauren Macpherson, Illinois transfer Abby Mueller, Towson transfer Elise Tisler and Oklahoma transfer Amy Weir.

Macpherson competed at San Jose State for four years, earning first-team all-conference honors seven times and second-team accolades three times during her career with the Spartans. The two-time NCAA Regional qualifier competed at 15 meets last season and performed 39 routines as an all-arounder that earned a score of 9.800 or better.

"One thing Tiger fans will notice about Lauren is that she loves to compete! She brings a wealth of competitive experience and a desire to compete amongst the best in the NCAA," Welker said in Monday's press release. "We are excited for her to join Tiger Nation!"

Mueller is a graduate transfer who competed in all-around at every meet for Illinois last season and scored the most points in the Big Ten Conference. During that same campaign, Mueller posted 31 scores of 9.800 or higher, including a career-best 9.950 on floor.

"Abby has a fun personality and loves gymnastics. We are thrilled to have someone that has successfully competed in some big moments join us," Welker said. "Abby will be a great addition to our team."

Tisler spent the last three seasons at Towson and was named East Atlantic Gymnastic League Specialist of the Year at the end of the 2024 campaign. Not only did she win a conference championship on vault last season, Tisler was also crowned first-team All-EAGL on floor and vault and a WCGA Second-Team All-American on vault.

"We immediately sensed Elise's positivity and grounded personality. Her love for gymnastics and desire to keep improving will certainly fit in well with our culture," Welker said.

Weir is returning to her home state after competing at Oklahoma for the last three seasons. During her time with the Sooners, the Wildwood native was a part of two national championship teams.

"We are so thrilled to bring Amy back to her home state. She has so much ability, especially on beam, to shine this season," Welker said. "Her family has a long history of being Missouri Tigers, and now she will join those ranks!"

Mizzou is aiming to build on last season's 13-6 overall record and its trip to the NCAA Gainesville Regional Final when the 2025 season arrives this winter.
