Mizzou Wrestling dominates West Virginia, remains undefeated

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (KMIZ)

No. 2 Mizzou stayed perfect on Friday evening, taking down No. 20 West Virginia 30-6 on the road. Tiger Style is still undefeated this season, boasting an 8-0 record with six duals left until the Big 12 Championships.

This is now the sixth dual this season that Mizzou has scored 30 team points or more against its opponent.

Noah Surtin and Kade Moore set the tone for Mizzou in its first two matches of the dual. Surtin posted a 17-2 technical fall against Jace Schafer in the 125-pound weight class. In the next match, Moore won by pinfall in 2:56, giving the Tigers an 11-0 advantage after two matches.

After West Virginia responded with victories in the 141-pound and 149-pound weight classes, Mizzou rattled off six straight wins to cruise past the Mountaineers. Tolton alum Brock Mauller recorded a 16-4 major decision victory, and Keegan O'Toole, Peyton Mocco, Clayton Whiting, Colton Hawks and Zach Elam all won their matches by decision.

Up next - Brian Smith's crew has a quick turnaround. Mizzou travels to New York for a dual with No. 14 Cornell on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 12 p.m.
