Two Mizzou players receive SEC weekly honors
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Following a 34-12 win over South Carolina at Faurot Field on Saturday, two Mizzou football players earned a nod from the Southeastern Conference. Running back Cody Schrader is the SEC Offensive Player of the Week and left tackle Javon Foster is the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week.
Schrader had a career day against the Gamecocks. He ran for a career-high 159 and two touchdowns on 29 carries. It is the fourth time in 2023 that the running back has had more than 100 yards in a game. Schrader was also the only running back to get carries on Saturday, working as the bell cow for head coach Eli Drinkwitz.
The St. Louis-native's 13 first half carries for 102 yards marked season highs in both first half yards and carries. Schrader also had two receptions for 11 yards, on Saturday.
He had plenty of help from Foster and the offensive line. That unit did not allow a sack in the win and also helped Schrader, quarterback Brady Cook and wide receiver Luther Burden rush for 213 total yards. Mizzou also scored on all three trips to the red zone.
Foster was also named to the PFF College Offensive Team of the Week.
Up next - Foster, Schrader and the Tigers will have a weekend off, then will travel to face No. 1 Georgia in Athens on Nov. 4 at 2:30 p.m.
