Mizzou picked to finish sixth in SEC East, no players selected to first team

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou football team is entering the 2023 season as an underdog. The Tigers were selected to finish sixth in the SEC East during preseason media polls that were released Friday.

This would be the same spot that MU finished in last season with a 6-7 record, just above Vanderbilt.

Here is what the preseason polls project each division to look like:

SEC East:

  • Georgia
  • Tennessee
  • South Carolina
  • Kentucky
  • Florida
  • Mizzou
  • Vanderbilt

SEC West:

  • Alabama
  • LSU
  • Texas A&M
  • Ole Miss
  • Arkansas
  • Auburn
  • Mississippi State

Georgia is once again selected by a landslide to win the SEC Championship.

The conference also released All-SEC team results in which not one Mizzou Tiger was a first-team selection.

Four total Tigers made the second-team list including offensive lineman Javon Foster, defensive back Kris Abrams-Draine, linebacker Ty'Ron Hopper and kicker Harrison Mevis. Defensive lineman Darius Robinson was a third-team selection.
