Kansas City wins final series of 2023 season, finishes with 56-106 record

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Kansas City Royals ended their 2023 season by clinching a series win over the New York Yankees with a 5-2 win on Sunday. Kansas City's final record was 56-106.

The Royals scored five unanswered runs in the game and never lost the lead.

MJ Melendez, Edward Olivares and Dairon Blanco all homered in Sunday's game. Blanco also recorded three hits in the game while Melendez, Bobby Witt Jr. and Nick Pratto had two hits.

Zack Greinke was on the mound for this contest and pitched five innings, allowing one run on four hits with two strikeouts.

The Royals will begin their 2024 campaign on March 28 with a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins.
